Some €108,000 will be made available to facilitate the relocation of the Little Deers crèche in Ennistymon to an alternative site, Clare Senator Martin Conway has said.
Senator Conway said: “I am absolutely delighted with this morning’s announcement by Government that €108,000 is to be allocated in capital funding to enable Little Deers crèche, which is a community based childcare facility managed by the North West Clare Family Resource Centre, to move to a new location.
“This facility has provided essential childcare support to many families in our community including our most recent Syrian residents. The facility is located on the campus of Daktronics; a company providing significant employment and due to its future expansion plans were no longer in a position to provide space for the creche.
“The facility is a vital service to support working parents and parents hoping to return to education. It is an excellent example of integration where all children from different backgrounds are cared for and educated together.
“I have engaged with the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone, her officials and with the Board of Directors of the Family Resource Centre to secure the funding and I am delighted that it has now been delivered.
“This is a further example of this Government’s continued commitment to ensure quality childcare is available to every family in the country.”
